Thought these would fit well with this group. Most are from a 1960's recipe box I got at a thrift store. Definately unique anyway. I can't say I have got quite brave enough to try them yet however.

Also a 80's recipe for buttery cinnimon cake... which you can tell I have used many many times. It comes out great. It's from the Better Homes and Gardens All Time Favorite Cake and Cookie Recipes book.

My edition is from 1970, but I don't think it had changed since original publication. This book is really wonderful, not just for the recipes and illustrations themselves, but also because the author wrote (and quite wonderfully) about her life growing up, and about how PF came to be, and there's also a section on antique cookbooks and cookery, some recipes from which I will post separately.

Here I've got a Beef Stroganoff recipe for [livejournal.com profile] whobyfire78, along with several other recipes, including

Like a few others, saw the spotlight and it's a definite interest of mine! Got *lots* of old cookbooks, plus recipes handed down through the years.

It's crab season in Maryland, so here's a good one

Eastern Shore Crab Cakes

1 pound crab meat (lump or backfin)
salt and pepper to taste
1 egg
1/4 pound butter
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 hard-boiled egg
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
soft bread crumbs (2-3 slices, center only, no crust)

Put crab meat in bowl and season to taste with salt and pepper. Add slightly beaten egg, melted butter, lemon juice, cut-up hard boiled egg, and Worcestershire sauce. Then add just enough soft bread crumbs to make it into cakes. Fry the cakes a golden brown in hot fat.

(This variant of crab cakes is from "Maryland's Way" published in 1963)

I can see the Tomato Aspic, and the fruit salad even- but the Crisp Vegetable Salad? That's just silly.

For our office holiday party, one of the dishes I made was Chocolate Sponge, taken from Better Meals with Gel-Cookery, published by Knox. The year isn't listed, but I'm guessing 50s or early 60s.This way to the spongey goodness ... )

I don't know much about this; I found it tucked in the back of my Betty Crocker Recipe Card Library. I can't find a date for this either- i'm guessing mid-60s? This is number 10, so I'm guessing it's part of a series. Definitely a few recipes on here that I want to try, however!

The JPGs should be printable quality; if they're not, I've included a link to a higher-quality PDF I made as well.
