I'd like to welcome everyone to [livejournal.com profile] vintage_recipes  that's stopping by because of our being in the Spotlight this week, and to all our regulars as well! We feature any sort of recipe from earlier than 25 years ago. If you ever have the nerve to try some of this recipes, please post how it turned out, with pics if you can!

In the past, I've made a few recipes myself, and posted videos. If you haven't seen them, here's links:

Video 1- Empress Meatloaf
Video 2- Creamy Tuna Salad
Video 3- Watergate Cake
Video 4- Harvest Bean Supper
Video 5- Mandarin Minted Mold
Video 6- Cool Cucumber MousseVideo 7- Molded Macaroni and Cheese

I hope everyone enjoys and continues to enjoy our little culinary corner.

I haven't made one in awhile, I know; but if you need a vintage cooking video fix, check out this website I found:

Great Depression Cooking with Clara

She's in her 90s, and sharing her recipes from when she lived through the Great Depression!

Back to the kitchen I go...

Bring it back to the present or leave it there in the past: Honestly, it wasn't bad. I think I'd add another can of a different kind of beans, and instead of bologna, some sort of ham would be really good. A pinch more of chili powder too. This would be fantastic served with corn bread and roast pork.

And here it is...

How could I NOT make this recipe?

Bring it back to the present or leave it there in the past: Wow, that's a tough call. My co-workers all professed to love it, and some went back for seconds. I, however, hated the texture even though I liked the taste.

I think if I made it again, I'd use a smaller mold to give it more of a form, and maybe substitute imitation crab meat in place of the tuna.

I promise this will be the one and only time I use the word "goatse" in a video.
