This is from the Easter Sunday best treasure hunting pile EVER. It's a little booklet called Let's Serve Cocktails... There is no date on the booklet, but i think mid-1950's a very good guess....It was published by the Taylor Wine Company, Inc. Hammondsport, New York...

i'm lazy today, so no scanner---not much to scan anyway...here's a couple 'interesting' recipes!

Hamonnaise

2 cups ground cooked ham ends
1/3 cup ground dill pickle
3 tbsp. Taylor's N.Y. State Burgundy
4 hard cooked egg yolks

Combine ham, pickle, burgundy. add mayonnaise to make spread for toast rounds. Push eggs through fine strainer, sprinkel over top. Garnish with sliver of radish.

Mushroom Liver Pate

1/4 lb. fresh mushrooms, minced
2 tbsp. butter
1 3-oz. package cream cheese
1/2. lb. liverwurst
1/2 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. garlic salt
1/8 tsp. black pepper
1/3 cup mayonnaise

Saute mushrooms in butter until brown. Mix all ingredients together until light. Store in refrigerator. Serve help-yourself style with crackers.

Smoked Beef 'n Cheese Rolls

1 part Roquefort or Blue Cheese spread
2 parts cream cheese
Taylor's New York State Rhine Wine
Sliced dried smoked beef

Cream the two cheeses together until soft. Beat in wine a little at a time until mixture is creamy and smooth. Spread a thin layer of cheese on each slice of beef; roll up and chill. Cut in bite size pieces (with scissors or sharp knife) and spear with colored toothpicks. This cheese mixture is also delicious on crackers or use it as a help-yourself dip with potato chips.

Sherrips

Soften cream cheese; add a little onion juice, and enough Taylor's N.Y. State Sherry to make spread. Serve help-yourself style with potato chips.

oh and since it's a booklet about serving cocktails...here's one of the few cocktail recipes...

6 O'Clock Cocktail

1 part Taylor's N.Y. State Extra Dry Vermouth
1 part Taylor's N.Y. State DRy Cocktail Sherry
1 part Taylor's N.Y. State Sweet Vermouth

Stir with ice cubes, strain. Serve in cocktail glass with twist of lemon peel.

I'm sure you've all heard of Manhattans....ever hear of a Bronx Cocktail??

Bronx Cocktail

2 parts Gin
1 part Taylor's N.Y. State Extra Dry Vermouth
1 part Taylor's N.Y. State Sweet Vermouth

Stir with ice cubes. Add 1/2 slice of orange to chilled cocktail glass. Strain and pour.

Yup, I learned the Bronx from a recipe on the side of an antique cocktail shaker I bought years ago. My version was basically a martinin with orange juice. Pretty good if you like gin, which I do.

I'll have to dig out my old Esquire bar guide, which includes cocktails for all the Ivy League schools. I can't imagine ordering a Brown.
