yeah, this isn't like "chili" its for sure got its own flavor from the vinegar, ginger, cinnamon & cloves. Hard to describe. I like it, my husband doesn't really so I'll likely never make it again, especially since my Mom has passed a few years ago and she loved it. It makes a lot so unless I am making to give away it'd be a waste if my husband won't eat it.
I sometimes put a tsp-tbsp of sugar in tomato products like sauces, brown sugar often gives an interesting level of flavor.
